Greetings from the Pre-Grammar School Head
The years between birth and five are when education matters most. More than 90% of brain development occurs in the first three years of life. Research shows that children who receive quality early care and education display better cognitive and language development, school achievement, and early school success.
Beginning in our youngest classes, the Covenant Christian Academy Pre-Grammar program focuses on laying a solid foundation to train children how to go to school to encourage and produce successful learners throughout their educational career. We emphasize building upon a child’s readiness to learn in age appropriate, developmental stages. Our program consists of presenting academic concepts through multi-sensory activities – making certain to reach all types of learners in a fun and engaging environment. Classes in foreign languages, music, and art are offered weekly to enrich learning even further. Also, we recognize that play is a child’s best work and, therefore, we provide hands-on experiences in all areas of learning. We believe in training the whole child. Therefore, we fully commit to help children grow cognitively, physically, emotionally/socially, and most importantly, spiritually. Luke 2:52 states that “Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man.” Our goal is to provide a learning environment where every area of development is strengthened.
Cognitively – Because 90% of a child’s learning foundation occurs in the earliest years, we provide an enriched learning environment that is developmentally appropriate for children. This means that students are offered hands-on learning experiences that are “process oriented” and not “product oriented.” We know that a child’s play is their best work. When you visit our building, you will see and hear children actively working in busy and usually loud classrooms.
Physically – We recognize that meeting the needs of the innate physical activeness of our students should have a direct correlation with the environment that is provided for them to learn and grow. Therefore, spacious classrooms and play areas (playground and gym) are essential. We also want to strengthen their growth physically by providing adequate “free play” times (recess) as well as a PE program that provides developmentally appropriate activities in coordination, fitness, skills, and team work.
Emotionally/Socially – Starting school is one of the biggest transitions in a child’s life. Moving from a home environment to a group learning environment is an adjustment. We provide an environment where each child is made to feel safe and loved. Also, specially developed units are designed to encourage positive emotional and social growth.
Spiritually – Above all, we want our students to know and love God. This is the foundation upon which we want them to build their lives. Therefore, biblical truths permeate our curriculum and instruction. We teach the students that Jesus is their forever friend and that God’s Word is true.
God has given us the high calling and responsibility as Early Childhood professionals to provide children with a Christ-centered education that will help each one to grow and learn the way God intended. We pray that as you seek God’s place for your child to begin his education, that you’ll consider partnering with us here at
