Pre-Grammar School
General Music
At CCA, we recognize the importance of early childhood music. Music classes provide important opportunities for guiding young children to learn about the elements of music, to discover how to make their own music, and how to bring glory and honor to God through their music and musical choices. Because movement is integral to the assimilation of musical concepts for young children, early childhood music lessons utilize a variety of movement activities and games to teach concepts such as beat, rhythm, pitch, form, and expressive elements.
Grammar - Early Logic school
General Music
Grammar school music classes (grades 1-4) provide important opportunities for children to learn about the elements of music, to discover how to make their own music, and to bring glory and honor to God through their music and musical choices. Students expand their understanding of musical elements through singing, chanting rhymes, body percussion, playing Orff instruments, and playing percussion instruments. Our curriculum incorporates the finest selection of folk and classical music from around the world, as well traditional and contemporary Christian music.
Early Logic school students (grades 5-6) continue their developmental growth by building on the foundation they received in Grammar school. In addition to singing, movement, and instrument work, early logic school students begin learning the soprano recorder, experiencing what it means to be part of an ensemble, and developing more independence as a musician. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in Kings Kids, an upper elementary choir.
The music curriculum in both grammar and early logic school is enhanced by grade level program performances during the year, and grade level field trips to various performances such as the symphony and the ballet.
