Kindergarten: Bubble printing

Pre-Grammar Art seeks to meet the developmental needs of children, and is designed to give the Kindergarten/Pre-First student an introduction to the world of art and begin a lifelong aesthetic awareness.  Through discovery and experimentation with various media and processes, Pre-Grammar students begin to view art as a reflection of God’s creation and as a means of self-expression. The children are encouraged to learn by touching and manipulating art materials in a positive, nurturing environment, which results in self-discovery and the joy of the creative process.

Grammar - Early Logic school

We believe that art instruction helps students to develop their artistic talents, enhances their sense of self-esteem, and creates joy and beauty for themselves and the community to enjoy.  The Grammar school Art program is designed to teach the elements and principles or Art utilizing a vast array of art materials and tools. Students investigate the world of art by seeing, feeling, and experimenting with the creative process.  Students experiment with different art materials to develop visual literacy, technical skills, and provide opportunities for creative expression.

Advanced Logic school - Grades 7-8  

Art

Students in logic school art will build on their grammar school art experiences and will explore the elements of art by working two and three dimensionally with a variety of techniques and materials. Students will be given the opportunity to develop and expand their own creativity and self-expression.  Students participate in art competitions throughout the year and in CCA’s Gallery Night.

Rhetoric school

Studio Art

In order to accommodate the different levels of artistic understanding and expression, Studio Art classes in the Rhetoric school are divided by grade level.  In Art I-Art III, students enhance their technical and aesthetic skills by working experimentally with a wide range of materials such as watercolor, ceramics, acrylic paint, and glass.  These classes also focus on developing self-awareness and an historical understanding of art.  Students are encouraged to explore their own personal artistic preferences in each project as they discover their own artistic style.  Senior Art students develop portfolios demonstrating in-depth technical skills and capabilities in a variety of media. Students work independently on a cohesive body of work that emulates a chosen theme.  Students are encouraged to connect their individual interests in art to future career development.
