Math

From the Math Department

Covenant Christian Academy’s philosophy of mathematics is derived from our understanding that we live in a Divinely created universe which is finite, discoverable, measurable, calculable, provable, predictable, and demonstrable through the laws of mathematics.   For the Christian, mathematics is a means whereby we can think God’s thoughts after Him.  It allows us to further our knowledge of God’s creation by describing in mathematical terms the order inherent in the way God created and sustains the universe.

In Grammar School and Early Logic School, math curriculum is focused on standard arithmetic operations and appropriate applications.  As students enter Logic School, they begin to learn how to analyze and think abstractly.  For some, this transition is natural.  For others, the level of maturity and ability to think in these terms comes at a slower pace.  Both situations provide students with the opportunity to turn towards their Creator and give honor to Him as they experience the growth and change He is taking them through.
